Description

Visitors embarked on a nostalgic journey as they explored the magical themes of childhood during the 15th Singapore Night Festival, held on Sunday. This vibrant nocturnal experience transported attendees back in time, sparking cherished memories of yesteryears.

Footage captured festival-goers wandering through a kaleidoscope of workshops and activities, where they revelled in dynamic light installations and engaged in delightful traditional games, such as launching paper aeroplanes.

They were also treated to a variety of amusing spectacles and wrestling shows, ensuring an unforgettable evening for all.

"We wanted to draw attention to the precinct's rich educational history, with Bras Basah.Bugis being the birthplace of Singapore's first schools," shared Melissa Poon, the festival lead. This historic venue is home to some of Singapore's earliest academic institutions, including St. Joseph’s Institution, Anglo-Chinese School, and Tao Nan School.

Reflecting on this year's theme, "The Art of Play," Poon emphasised, "It truly serves as a celebration of the joys of childhood and school days. Nostalgia is at the forefront, and many of our experiences are both playful and interactive. There is something that appeals to everyone, regardless of age."

Poon elaborated on the overarching title for this year, "Wonder World," which evokes the spirit of the old-world amusement parks enjoyed by Singaporeans during the 1950s, providing a delightful glimpse into the past.

The 15th Singapore Night Festival features multiple workshops, captivating arts and light installations, and performances suitable for visitors of all ages. The festival runs from August 23 to September 7, promising an enchanting and immersive experience in the heart of the city.
