Description

A group of young Syrian men have turned war-torn Idlib into their parkour playground where they display their gymnastics prowess and skills in navigating buildings left damaged by years of conflict.

Team members jumped and vaulted over war-damaged urban structures, running, and rolling against a backdrop of rubbles and debris on Saturday.

"Despite the destruction and military campaigns that we are encountering in liberated northern Syria, we are continuing to train, and we aspire to participate in world championships and face teams outside Syria such as European teams," said Ahmed Sawas who said he had founded the team a year and a half ago using social media platforms.

Parkour on damaged buildings is not without its downsides for the traceurs, with one team member saying, "We are exposed to a lot of injuries, as you can see, we are training on destroyed buildings, as we jump from one building to another, and from one ruined surface to another."

Despite joint Russian-Turkish patrols to ensure security in the Idlib de-escalation zone, a political agreement to end the conflict is yet to be reached and many fear another round of military offensive in the area.
