Former US president Donald Trump claimed there was 'no case' against him during his ongoing hush-money trial in New York on Tuesday, after former adult film star Stormy Daniels testified earlier in the day.

"They have no case," he alleged. "Every single legal scholar that I see, I mean, maybe there's somebody out there, some whack job, but virtually everyone that I've seen has said there's absolutely no case."

"It's a case that shouldn't have been brought," Trump continued. "The previous DA wouldn't bring it. Brant didn't want to bring it, and he brought it because I'm running in number one place. This all comes out of the White House and crooked Joe Biden," he claimed.

Trump also stated that the alleged 'hush money' was a 'legal expense' that was 'approved by all agencies'.

"Everybody saw this. There was nothing being hidden at all. That's what they're all writing now. There's been nothing hidden. And it went through agencies. And I guess it went through the IRS also. It went through IRS. It went through the FEC. It went through everything," he said.

During her own testimony, Daniel said she 'hates' Trump and wanted him 'held accountable', while claiming she had a sexual liaison with him in 2006 - which he denies.

Trump also noted the series of pro-Palestine protest camps on US campuses, saying 'the country is on fire'.

"There are protests all over the country. I've never seen anything like this. Many graduation ceremonies are being cancelled. They're cancelled, as you know, in Colombia. They're cancelling a lot of them. And we have a president that just refuses to talk because he can't talk," he said.

The former president is facing 34 felony counts of falsified business records and has pleaded not guilty to all charges. It relates to the alleged 'hush money' payment of $130,000 made to Daniels in 2016, which prosecutors claim Trump's lawyer made to stop her going public about the liaison. Trump denies the claims.
