Hundreds of protesters joined a rally co-hosted by former NBA star and podcaster Stephen Jackson in Minneapolis on Thursday. They demanded convictions for the four policemen responsible for the arrest and subsequent death of George Floyd.

Stephen Jackson referred to Floyd as one of his closest friends and his twin. Jackson said his friendship with Floyd started via a mutual friend and they became closer as they joked about how much they looked alike.

"A lot of people have been talking a lot of things. But one thing they can't say that has never been taught is love. Love outweighs everything, I'm here today, I'm letting you hear Minnesota, I'm not leaving until my brothers get justice. I'm standing here with my hand and my chest out until I get justice for my brother," said the former San Antonio Spurs NBA champion.

George Floyd, who died at the hands of police in Minneapolis on May 25, was laid to rest in Houston on Tuesday.

Police officer Derek Chauvin who was filmed kneeling on Floyd's neck for almost nine minutes has been charged with second-degree murder while the three other officers were charged with aiding and abetting murder.
