Thousands of athletes from all over the world left the Olympic Village in Paris on Monday, after the Games have concluded.

"It was so good. I spent three weeks there. Everything was free, the food, even the haircut, everything was free. And now come back to real life, it's going to be so hard," Alexis Michael Kpade, a swimmer from Benin said.

Footage shows athletes leaving the Olympic Village while carrying their suitcases to depart to the airport as well as police officers patrolling outside the village.

"Paris 2024 was so great, it was a really good experience for me. I could swim for my country, and that's incredible," Marine Andet, another swimmer from the Central African Republic stated.

Australian wrestler Jayden Alexander Lawrence, who participated in his first Olympics, described the closure ceremony as a 'big party' adding that it 'was amazing.'

"It was definitely a very cool experience, to live here in the village with all the other athletes, to eat together. It was great, it was going to be awesome, I loved it," German athlete Emil Agyekum shared.

According to the published results of the Olympics, the US team edged into first securing 126 medals in total including 40 gold and 44 silver beating China which secured 50 gold and 27 silver medals. The host of the Olympics, France, finished fifth with 16 gold medals.

The 2024 Olympic Games were held in Paris from July 26 to August 11, marking the third time the French capital has hosted the Summer Olympics, following the 1900 and 1924 games.

The next Summer Olympics will take place in Los Angeles in 2028.
