Dozens of pet owners showed up with their dogs dressed in spooky outfits for the Halloween party in Lima on Saturday to compete for the best 'scary' attire.

Footage features the pets dressed in various costumes of movie characters, spiders, pumpkins and others while owners are seen wearing similar outfits. Attendees are also seen posing with their pets for photos.

"It's super satisfying, because in this way we show our integration with them [pets]. Also because we take a lot into account, since they are part of our family. I take it very seriously because we look for something very unique and that draws a lot of attention from others as well," shared her feelings Thalia Garcia, the owner of Sit dressed in the costume of cowboy.

Another attendee Danica Lizarazu described the event as the 'opportunity' for pets to 'socialise' and 'get to know each other.' She also added that her dog is 'more than just a pet, he's part of the family.'

"And I think that most people who have a little dog or kitten feel that way. Because, even if you don't want it, they become part of the family as a little son or a little brother," she underlined.

This year a number of parties and outfit contests for pets are scheduled to take place across Peru on Halloween's eve, including the Pet Fair in Municipality of Miraflores and Convet Fest 2024 on Sunday.
