Description

A recount in Miwaukee County, Wisconsin on Friday saw President-elect Joe Biden increase his lead by 132 votes, receiving 317,527 to Trump's 134,482, in another blow to US President Donald Trump's hopes of retaining the presidency.

The count, which was paid for by Trump and is reported to have cost over $2 million (€1.67 million), was done in the presence of representative of the Trump administration. According to Milwaukee Country Clerk, George Christenson, the recount was finished "well in advance of the December 1 deadline."

George Chistenson went on to praise the work of the recount team, saying they enabled "A transparent process that allowed the public to observe, a fair process that allows either the agreed candidate, who sought the recount, the opportunity to observe and object to the ballots they believe should not be counted."

Trump's legal team is believed to be declaring a legal challenge against the results of the recount in Milwaukee County to get tens of thousands of votes thrown out.

The president has alleged widespread voter fraud since the election, with his lawyers launching a series of court cases in an attempt to overturn the results. They have lost or withdrawn over 30 cases so far. They have yet to show substantial evidence of voter fraud.
