The Philippine Air Force (PAF) launched the celebrations of the upcoming 77th anniversary in Floridablanca, Pampanga, on Monday, with a display of air operations showcasing its capabilities in retaking territory and eradicating enemy command and control.

Footage shows fighter jets performing take-offs and airstrikes and helicopters deploying troops. Philippine president Ferdinand Marcos Jr. was seen arriving at the base later and delivering a speech highlighting PAF's defence capabilities.

"We have increased our maritime domain awareness by regularly conducting maritime patrol missions and monitoring over four hundred unknown tracks within the Philippine Air Defense Identification Zone," he said.

President Marcos Jr. emphasised the significance of international defence relations through dialogue and collaborative military exercises, reaffirming his commitment to enhancing the armed forces' capacities.

"Together, let us fortify our efforts to build a stronger Air Force and Armed Forces of the Philippines that will serve as an instrument for peace and unity, a catalyst for nation-building, and a vanguard of stability," he concluded.

During the event, PAF also showcased country's new highly mobile SPYDER Ground-Based Aerial Defense System (GBADS) used to detect, identify and neutralise hostile aircraft from the ground.

The Philippines has recently acquired advanced aircraft and radar systems, significantly enhancing the country's operational readiness and expanding its reach.
