Ebrahim Raisi, the Iranian President, delivered a speech for the United Nations General Assembly tonight in a pre-recorded address, in Tehran on Tuesday.

During his speech, he highlighted the importance of the removal of the sanctions as a result of the JCPOA talks and said: "The Islamic Republic of Iran deems a negotiation useful when it results in the lifting of oppressive sanctions. While decisively defending all its rights and the interests of its people, the Islamic Republic of Iran is keen to have large-scale political and economic cooperation and convergence with the rest of the world. I seek effective interaction with all the countries of the world especially with our neighbouring countries and shake their hands warmly."

Raisi further referred to the American people uprising after the US elections and the Afghan people being dropped down from the US plane in August and noted: "This year, two scenes made history: one was on January the 6th when the US congress was attacked by the people and, two, when the people of Afghanistan were dropped down from the US plane in August. From the Capitol to Kabul, one clear message was sent to the world: the US’ hegemonic system has no credibility, whether inside or outside the country."
