    Germans cast their votes at a Berlin polling station in the 20th federal elections on Sunday.

    SPD's Olaf Scholz, CDU's Amin Laschet and the Greens' Annalena Baerbock have been shortlisted as the top three most likely candidates to win the chancellor seat according to the latest polls, with Scholz taking the lead.

    For the first time in 16 years, the election takes place without the participation of the incumbent Chancellor Angela Merkel.
