Description

A young Kenyan innovator has created a futuristic training shoes that he says can play music, light up your way home on a dark night and massage your feet at the same time.

Footage captured on Wednesday in Kisumu shows robotics innovator Teddy Jacob Omondi assembling his training shoes and demonstrating their features.

"It has music which can also play via USB over here and which can also play FM radio," he explained. "As you can see it has a switch over here [...] you can place your earphones over here. It also has lights so that whenever you walk at night you can see where you are going".

The cutting-edge footwear is made using recycled materials sourced from local electronics repair shops.

"They extract the wires from old machines, like the radios and the TVs. So I would program the technological parts that I collect to work the way I want them to," he said.

Training shoe enthusiast Duran Manyala said he will add the shoe to his collection because of the unique features.

"I always carry my phone to listen to music but this shoe has music. I am used to carrying a torch at night because it is usually very dark. This means I will not be using a torch again," said Manyala. "They are beautiful and have massage function so I think I will buy this shoe," he added.

Omondi said he created the futuristic training shoes to help people who suffer from leg problems and are unable to wear normal shoes.
