A massive crowd of football supporters gathered in Buenos Aires late on Sunday following Argentina's triumph in the Copa America final against Colombia.

Footage shows crowds celebrating the victory of Argentina's national football team around the famous Obelisk in the city centre. Some fans were seen lighting fireworks and waving their national flags.

One of the supporters, Matthew, said that the victory 'will last a lifetime' and doubted it would happen again any time soon.

Another fan added that the triumph would unite people despite the current economic crisis.

"It is something which cannot be described, the first time I experience a celebration here in Buenos Aires and at the Obelisk. It really unites us, it is wonderful despite everything we go through, this is happiness," said Vilma.

Argentina secured their 16th title with the 1-0 win at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami. Lautaro Martinez's goal came in extra time, after captain and national hero Lionel Messi went off injured in the 66th minute. It also marked Angel Di Maria's final match.

Argentina's victory marks the country's third straight major tournament win, following the 2021 Copa America and the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
