Description

At least nine people were killed following a fire inside the Taiwan's Donggang Antai Hospital on Thursday, as Typhoon Krathon hit the region.

Footage shows firefighters arriving at the medical centre and hospital staff members assisting the patients.

"For the victims, we are waiting for the prosecutor to arrive for an autopsy to determine the cause of death. After the examination, some families will send their loved ones to the funeral home, while others may choose to take them home," explained Guo, one of the locals.

"All 324 patients have been accounted for," said Yin Fenglan, Director of Communications and International Affairs of the Pingtung County Government, adding that of the nine dead, eight were patients and one was an electrical engineer.

Authorities have not linked the fire with the bad weather at time of publication.
