Footage shows the damage, with houses surrounded by flooding, broken tree branches and piles of debris. Emergency workers can also be seen conducting cleanup operations following the rainfall.
Bosnia declared a state of emergency nationwide on Friday as heavy rains in Donja Jablanica and nearby Konjic caused flash floods and landslides, reportedly killing at least 21 people and leaving dozens others missing. Rocks from a nearby quarry were also reported to have buried houses in the area, according to local media.
According to local media reports, several municipalities were affected, including Jablanica, Kiseljak, Konjic, Kresevo, Busovaca and Fojnica.
The flooding has also reached Montenegro, cutting off the Komarnica village. Meanwhile, Croatia experienced rising water levels in rivers, particularly near the Kupa River in Karlovac, which prompted flood warnings.
Prime Minister of Bosnia and Herzegovina Nermin Niksic said he was communicating with rescue team and co-ordinating the relief efforts as many citizens remained trapped in their homes.
Bosnia's election commission postponed local elections this weekend in municipalities affected by floods, but mentioned that it will continue holding the polls in other areas.
