Thousands of Muslims gathered at the Addis Ababa stadium to celebrate Eid al-Fitr, marking the end of the Holy month of Ramadan, on Wednesday.
"Our religion needs to be united, collaborative, [with] solidarity and love for each other," said one local, Ahmed Endris.
Footage shows crowds of people walking to the sports ground and praying, with Ethiopian Islamic Affairs Supreme Council President Sheikh Haji Ibrahim Tufa and other religious leaders participating in the event.
"I wish to all Muslims a happy Eid holiday," said another local, Abdulkerim Sultan. "I wish the holiday to [bring] peace, [a] better future and I thank our Allah."
Eid al-Fitr falls on the first day of the tenth month of Shawwal in the Islamic lunar calendar, commencing with the rising of the crescent moon. It comes at the end of the month-long period of dawn-until-dusk fasting during Ramadan.
