Description

One person was killed and 40 others injured on Sunday after a truck crashed into a bus stop north of Tel Aviv.

Footage shows heavy police and military presence around the bus stop near the Gillot military base, surrounding the truck which was allegedly driven by Rami Natur, an Arab Israeli from the town of Qalansawe.

"When we came on the scene, the people told us that a truck driving to, crashed into the people that were standing on the bus station and crashed into the bus. And because of that six of the people were trapped under the truck, so really injured. [There was] a lot of screaming, a lot of people that needed help," said Anastasia Stalmakhov, paramedic at Israel's Magen David Adom rescue service.

Israeli National Security Minister Ben-Gvir said authorities are investigating it as an alleged 'terror attack,' insisting the attacker – neutralised on-site – was a 'terrorist.'

"The chief policeman said this accident is investigated as a terror attack, and that's how it should be investigated. I'm here to give my full support to the citizens and to the policeman who liquidated this man, he's a terrorist," he stressed.

Ben-Gvir also demanded the family of the suspected attacker to be deported from Israel.

"We will discuss the law for the expulsion of terrorist families on Tuesday, and I expect Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to support this law, alongside all of Likud and the opposition for this legislation."

The ongoing Gaza war broke out after Hamas launched an attack on southern Israel on October 7, 2023 killing 1,139 people, mostly civilians, and kidnapping over 200, according to Israeli officials.

In the enclave, the Israeli military conducted a large-scale campaign of air strikes and a ground incursion, killing over 42,900 Palestinians according to the latest figures from the Palestinian side.
