Description

The aftermath of Israeli airstrikes on the southern Lebanese city of Tyre was seen on Monday, shortly after the IDF issued a number of evacuation orders calling on locals to leave the area.

Footage shows huge dust clouds rising immediately after the attack on buildings in the Corniche area, overlooking the Mediterranean Sea.

According to reports, the evacuation orders covered buildings located between the Dr Ali al-Khalil, Hiram, Mohammad al-Zayyat and Nabih Berri streets in the city.

An IDF’s Arabic-language spokesperson called on locals to "immediately move away from the area... and head north to the Awali River," adding that the military "does not want to harm you.”

The Israeli military claimed that the strikes were on Hezbollah targets including weapons depots and observation posts.

It marks the second time in one week that downtown Tyre has been targeted, after strikes on October 23. No casualties were reported at time of publication.

Israel has conducted a ground incursion into parts of southern Lebanon, as well as an ongoing campaign of airstrikes on Hezbollah targets over the past month. Lebanon's Ministry of Health stated that 2,672 people have been killed and more than 12,468 injured at time of publication.

The current escalation between Israel and Hezbollah began last month with explosions of wireless communications devices used by Hezbollah, which killed dozens and injured thousands. The sides have exchanged cross-border strikes since the outbreak of the 2023 Gaza war.
