٠٠:٠٣:٥٢Vietnamese mechanic Nguyen Van Luong from Bac Giang, northeastern Vietnam, constructed a unique residential house which can rotate 360 degrees thanks to an underground water tank.
Footage captured on Tuesday shows the three-storey house supported by columns rotating around an axis, as Van Luong can be seen measuring rotation speed.
"Now I'm almost 60, I also want to do something to leave a legacy in my life. So I thought of the idea of making a house to make memories in," he explained.
The 57-year-old mechanic measured the speed at which the house was rotating using special equipment.
"The house is rotating at a speed of 10 minutes per revolution. And right now I'm measuring which shows that it's at 0.7 amps, which is equivalent to two fans of about 100W," he explained.
Van Luong noted that construction was a challenge as he needed to make the structure as light yet robust as possible.
"I had to do research in the construction field to find out how to get the best quality concrete to make the thinnest concrete float to make it light enough to float, both the thinnest, yet able to withstand the force. For example, my house's entire load is about 400 tons and it rests on that buoy," he explained.
He likened his construction to a boat since it floats and 'keeps spinning around' atop a water tank.
In 2022, the Vietnam Intellectual Property Office awarded Van Luong's project with an exclusive patent for his unique rotating house, according to media reports.
The house was completed in 2016 after approximately four years of design and construction. It covers an area of over 100 square meters and is built on a 14-metre circular water tank which supports a 500-ton concrete float.
