Description

The aftermath of an Israel airstrike in the Jamous area of Beirut's southern suburb was seen on Friday.

Footage reveals extensive damage to several buildings, vehicles, and shops along a street.

The Israeli military said that it carried out a 'precise strike' in the Lebanese capital, while the country's Ministry of Health reported 14 dead and 66 wounded at time of publication.

Israeli media reports claimed Hezbollah commander Ibrahim Aqil and other 'senior' figures were among the dead, although Hezbollah has not commented.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu pledged on Wednesday evening to return the residents of northern Israel to their homes, while Israeli Defence Minister Yoav Galant also confirmed the war’s 'centre of gravity' was shifted from the Gaza Strip to the north.

Israel hit targets in Lebanon's border regions on Thursday, which it said focused on '100 rocket launchers'. Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah warned that this week's mass pager and handheld radio explosions across the country - which the militant group blamed on Israel - had 'crossed red lines' and could be seen as a 'declaration of war'.

The blasts across Lebanon on Tuesday and Wednesday killed 37 and injured nearly 3000, according to the Lebanese Health Ministry. Israel has not commented on those attacks.

Israel and Hezbollah have been exchanging cross-border fire, which escalated following the outbreak of the Gaza war in October 2023.
