Description

An injured young Palestinian man reportedly in handcuffs was seen strapped to the bonnet of an Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) armoured vehicle as it drove through the streets of the West Bank city of Jenin.

Footage shows the injured youngster strapped to the front of the IDF military vehicle.

An IDF spokesperson quoted by Israeli media accepted responsibility for the incident, noting that “forces took away a suspect who was tied up atop a vehicle, violating both orders and operational procedures,” and confirming that the IDF will conduct a probe into the incident.

The spokesperson stated that the young man was wounded during an exchange of fire between Israeli forces and Palestinian gunmen during an ‘anti-terrorist operation’ on Saturday morning in the Wadi Burqin region, west of Jenin, before being taken into custody.

The Palestinian Red Crescent claimed, in a Facebook post, that the Israeli army had "prevented its personnel from providing first aid to the man and placed the injured man on the front of the military jeep and detained him before later allowing our teams to transport him to the hospital."

The Palestinian Ministry of Health reports that since October 7, there have been ongoing tensions in the West Bank and that 550 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli soldiers and settlers. According to official Israeli figures, at least 13 Israelis were killed in Palestinian attacks in the West Bank over the same period.
