Description

The International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition (ADIHEX) kicked off in Abu Dhabi on Saturday, offering visitors the opportunity to see the latest innovations in the United Arab Emirates' most treasured cultural sports.

Footage shows a musical group singing and dancing in a traditional Emarati performance. Meanwhile, visitors can be seen practicing archery, looking at the latest hunting weapons and taking pictures with falcons as well as other exotic birds.

"There are a lot of people here, people from all Arab countries come here. [...] They come specifically to buy birds. Russian birds are very much appreciated because there are very few of them and they are purebred," explained Oleksandr Vlasenko, owner of Mawsim Alsaid Birds and Accessories TR.

"Birds are just like cars," he continued. "Two birds are the same, the same size and the same colour, but they're going to have completely different prices. One bird will cost, for example, a thousand dollars, the other bird will cost a hundred thousand dollars."

ADIHEX was first established in Abu Dhabi by the UAE's founder, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, in 2003. The event has since gained popularity among industry experts around the region and is now the Middle East's largest hunting and equestrian exhibition.

The exhibition offers regional and international companies the opportunity to meet potential partners and network. Exhibitors also have the chance to showcase their latest technologies and innovations in the hunting, equestrian and falconry sports. In addition, various auctions and competitions are held during the exhibition.
