Description

Crowds of people came to pay their respects to George Floyd at two new murals created in his honour, in Houston, Texas, on Sunday.

One of the murals painted is an image of George Floyd with the words "Forever breathing in our hearts." It was created by Alex Roman Jr., aka 'Donkeeboy', in collaboration with his mother. It adorns the Scott Food Mart in the Third Ward where George Floyd grew up. It took the artists five hours to complete and was done for free at the request of a friend of George Floyd, Travis Caines.

The other mural is located roughly two miles away and was painted by artist Reginald Adams on the walls of Marcus Davis' The Breakfast Klub restaurant.

Adams said, "I am using this as a visual statement that enough is enough, that we are tired, we are tired of seeing our people basically suffocated by the police unjustly." He hopes his art will help unify communities throughout the US to "stand up as one for justice."

The new mural is located besides a mural by the same artist of former US President Barack Obama, created in 2008.
