Residents in the al-Jalaa neighbourhood scrambled to evacuate following warnings from the IDF. "We woke up to the sounds of people in the streets, saying evacuate, evacuate. They are going to bomb the towers," said Walaa Abu Shrekh, a local. "My husband and son are war-injured, and I live on the fifth floor. I don’t know where to go. All the houses were destroyed, and there’s nowhere to go. Where can we go? There’s no safe place left."
The Palestinian News and Information Agency (WAFA) reported that the IDF demanded the immediate evacuation of residents from the Al-Jalaa area and new neighbourhoods in central Khan Younis. WAFA noted that over 70,000 people from eastern and central Khan Younis have been displaced.
The IDF adjusted the boundaries of the designated humanitarian zone, citing evidence that the Hamas group was operating from it. The new evacuation warnings have intensified the crisis in southern Gaza.
