Passengers on a Shinkansen bullet train from Tokyo to Osaka were in for an event ahead of Halloween when actors dressed as zombies, clowns, and cheerleaders turned their journey into a thrilling experience on Saturday.

Footage from the planned event shows actors adorned in eerie makeup and costumes performing both chilling and comedic acts for the passengers. Attendees took the opportunity to capture photos with the 'zombies' and enjoyed the entertaining spectacle.

Coco, one of the passengers, shared her excitement: "Honestly, I had zero expectations. I have a love-hate relationship with being scared. So there was a part of me right before I got on the train, and I was shaking a little bit. I had anxiety…But honestly, I'm having the best time. This is one of the best activities and events that I've ever done in Japan. So I really hope they bring this back."

The event was orchestrated by Kowagarasetai, a troupe led by producer Iwana Kenta, who drew inspiration from the Korean hit film 'Train to Busan.' He described the unique twist, saying: "Passengers are on a normal train, but then one is 'infected,' turning the ride into a zombie apocalypse. This is unlike any other event."

The 'Zombie Shinkansen,' travelling at speeds of 285 km/h, began its spooky journey from Tokyo at 5:18 PM local time. The chilling event unfolded in the train's 16th car over the course of a two-hour and twenty-minute trip.

All seemed normal at first before the chilling event unfolded in the train's 16th car and the first gory attack took place.

Organised by the Japanese Haunted House Company, Kowagarasetai, renowned for park hauntings, the event featured more than 20 actors delivering a mix of dance, scary scenes, tricks, and live music performances.
