Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi welcomed his Algerian counterpart Abdelmadjid Tebboune on Sunday at Cairo International Airport for a two-day official visit.
Footage released by the Egyptian presidency shows el-Sisi welcoming Tebboune at the airport before their convoy left for Al-Ittihadiya Palace, where a ceremonial reception took place to greet the Algerian president. Tebboune was accompanied by a delegation including Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf and Energy Minister Mohamed Arkab.
The talks are aimed to address bilateral isssues, the war in Gaza, the Libyan crisis, as well as regional and economic matters such as Algerian gas supplies to Cairo and topics related to the African Union.
Tebboune participated in a trilateral summit meeting between the leaders of Algeria, Tunisia, and the Libyan Presidential Council in the capital, Tripoli, before his trip to Cairo.
The visit marks Tebboune's second trip to Cairo since assuming office in December 2019 after his first visit in January 2022.
