Seven Palestinians were killed and others injured during a military operation by the Israel Defence Force (IDF) in the West Bank city of Jenin on Friday, targeting an armed cell that killed an IDF captain in a roadside bombing on June 27.

Footage shows the funeral procession of one of the dead, covered with the flag of the Islamic Jihad movement, as well as the continuing clashes in the area. The video also shows the aftermath of the attack, as fires continued to burn in one of the houses destroyed in the strike.

“I was with the first team that entered the house, and of course, it was completely destroyed and completely burned. There are bloodstains on the ground, but so far, we have not found any martyrs or injured,” said first-responder paramedic Murad Khamaiseh.

The IDF stated that commando and reconnaissance units carried out the operation based on intelligence provided by the General Security Service on the location of the cell responsible for killing IDF Captain Alon Sakiyo and injuring 16 other soldiers on June 27.

It added that ‘four of the gunmen were killed in an airstrike carried out by a drone’, claiming that the brothers behind the earlier bombing, Humam and Harith Hashash, were among those killed. The IDF announced that seven Palestinians were killed as a result of the operation, which was confirmed by the Palestinian Ministry of Health.

Meanwhile, the military wing of the Islamic Jihad movement Saraya al-Quds said its fighters engaged with IDF forces around the besieged house in the Harsh al-Saada area using small-arms fire and explosives.

Tension in the West Bank has continued to rise since October 7, with 572 Palestinians killed by Israeli forces or settlers, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health. In the same period, at least 14 Israelis have been killed in attacks by Palestinians in the West Bank, according to official Israeli figures.
