Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola told a press conference in Manchester on Friday how proud he was of his team's performance despite failing to qualify for the semi-finals for the third year in a row.
"We did everything in both games, there and here, how many shots on target, the way we played, it's nothing, it was fantastic. The players, I’m so proud, I’m sorry we lose but I am so proud," he said.
He said that despite the result against Tottenham Hotspur his team will continue to look forward as they chase a domestic treble this season.
"Honestly, we are sad, so sad, we have the incredible illusion to go through, so I give credit to Tottenham on how good they are. So, for me my expectation for myself they are lower than the people believe, I am happy to qualify for the championship league next season, we are ready."
City have to do it all over again when they host Tottenham on Saturday, this time in the English Premier League, as they fight to retain the title.
