Description

Israel Defence Forces (IDF) released footage on Wednesday claiming to show its soldiers carrying out 'targeted operations' in an undisclosed location in southern Lebanon.

The video features IDF troops from the '98th Division' patrolling a hillside at night and conducting what appears to be an armed raid. The 'commanding officer' of the brigade is later seen directing operations from an unnamed base.

"Eliminating terrorists at close range and destroying Hezbollah attack infrastructure," the IDF wrote in an accompanying statement. "Forces from the Commando Brigade, including soldiers from the Egoz Unit, located and destroyed a Hezbollah attack infrastructure, which included a rocket launcher, explosive stockpiles, and additional military equipment."

"The troops, in co-operation with the Israeli Air Force, eliminated terrorists and dismantled terrorist infrastructure through precision-guided munitions and close-range engagements. So far, over 150 terror infrastructures have been destroyed in airstrikes, including Hezbollah headquarters, weapons storage facilities, and rocket launchers," the statement added.

Israel announced that it had launched a 'limited' ground incursion on Tuesday following the latest wave of air strikes on Hezbollah targets.

The IDF bombing campaign began on September 23, with more than 1,200 people killed and over 7,000 injured at the time of publication, according to the Lebanese Health Ministry.

Last Friday, an attack on Beirut's southern suburb killed Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah and others. Iran launched a wave of missiles on Tuesday, which is said was in response to that assassination and others.

Tensions in southern Lebanon escalated in mid-September after mass explosions of pagers and handheld radios belonging to Hezbollah. The group has exchanged cross-border fire with Israel since the outbreak of the Gaza war in October 2023.
