Police used tear gas to disperse a Black Lives Matter protest and made several arrests on Saturday night, after demonstrators attempted to march to a law enforcement building in East Portland.
Officers declared a riot for the third time in four nights and blocked the march of hundreds of people before clashing with protesters shortly after 11 PM local time (06:00 GMT). Tear gas and fireworks exploding could be seen, as well as police ordering protesters to disperse. Officers also used stun grenades, pepper spray and shot impact munitions against the crowd, according to local reports.
Earlier on Saturday, protesters rallying in support of the police and US President Donald Trump clashed with Black Lives Matter and Antifa protesters.
Demonstrations against racism and police brutality have been taking place nightly in Portland since George Floyd was killed by Minneapolis police in late May.
