Description

Members of ethnic minorities of Guizhou Province, southwestern China, showcased their traditional national costumes during the special 'Village T' fashion show held in Township Plaza.

Footage captured on Sunday features models and children walking the runway in colourful ethnic attire with stunning accessories and headwear. Some of them are also seen performing traditional dances on the runway.

"As I love beauty and enjoy it, I want to showcase the beauty of our ethnic costumes. That's why we came here, to create this stage where we can wear our beautiful ethnic clothing and display it," shared one of the models.

The show organiser said that the event aims to 'provide a platform' for the ethnic minorities of Guizhou to 'showcase and experience their culture' and "allow more people to see the ethnic cultural attire" of the province.

"This is initiated by A Xing and me, we are the founders. When we were in Xian, we wondered why we could only see these beautiful costumes during the New Year. We thought: 'Why couldn't we return to our hometown and organise a T-stage show?' A Xing has his own ethnic brand and a clothing design company, so we decided to turn this idea into reality immediately," he added.

The 'Village T' fashion show which is held in Qiandongnan Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture of Guizhou Province every Friday, Saturday and Sunday involves national clothes of approximately 33 local ethnic minority groups, according to media reports.

The event involved visitors of all ages and was aimed at demonstrating the ethnic identity and diversity of the local nation. Their traditional costumes include clothes made from Miao embroidery, Dong textiles, and batik, according to local media reports.
