Thousands joined the funeral ceremony of Iran's late Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian in Tehran on Thursday, following the fatal helicopter crash that killed the FM, President Ebrahim Raisi and several other officials on Sunday.

"On behalf of all the members of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Tehran and other parts of the world, I would like to emphasise that the pure blood of Amir-Abdollahian, the Amir of Diplomacy, the dear Basiji, guaranteed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran staying revolutionary," stated Ali Bagheri, Iran's Acting Foreign Minister.

Footage shows the ceremony being held in front of the Foreign Ministry, where the casket of Amir-Abdollahian was accompanied by the Iranian Army members, before the crowds carried it to the Shah Abdul Azim's shrine where the late FM would be laid to rest. The funeral was attended by present and former Iranian officials, family members, and employees of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

"Despite the loss of Amir-Abdollahian, we assure the noble nation of Iran that the rapid movement of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the field of foreign policy and international relations will face no disruption. The Islamic Republic of Iran's sovereignty is powerful and capable," remarked Nasser Kanaani, Spokesperson of Iran's Foreign Ministry.

"When they announced the news of Raisi's martyrdom on television, I came out of the room, and realised that the Minister of Foreign Affairs had been accompanying Raisi, I shouted loudly and said, 'O Hussein, O Imam Reza'. God, you know the right thing to do and determine their destiny," shared Fatemeh Amir-Abdollahian, sister of the late FM on his passing.

The ceremony also witnessed the presence of rabbi Yisroel Dovid Weiss, spokesman of the Haredi Jews group 'Neturei Karta' ('Guardians of the City'), where he praised Iran as 'the example for the whole world' where Muslims and Jews 'could live in peace together.'

Amir-Abdollahian, along with President Raisi and several top Iranian leaders were killed when their helicopter came down in the mountains in northern Iran's East Azerbaijan province during heavy fog on Sunday.

Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei declared five days of national mourning. First Vice President Mohammad Mokhber is serving as acting president for an interim period, with elections scheduled after 50 days. Deputy Foreign Minister Ali Bagheri Kani has become acting foreign minister.

Messages of condolence arrived from the leaders of Russia, India, Pakistan, Iraq, Syria, Egypt and others. Amir-Abdollahian, formerly the deputy foreign minister for Arab and African Affairs from 2011-2016, served as Iran's Foreign Minister from 2021 till his death in the crash.
