Description

The Thai armed forces recently organized an auction at the Military Dog Centre in Nakhon Ratchasima’s Pak Chong district to help 66 dogs find new owners.

These dogs had either served in the army or did not meet the required qualifications to join.

The auction, which took place on Saturday, featured canines of three popular breeds – Labrador Retrievers, German Shepherds, and Belgian Malinois – aged between two and seven years old.

Footage shows dozens of locals flocking to the centre to find a four-legged friend, while soldiers were interacting with the dogs and organising the auction.

"It feels great and very happy and I am excited to get this new dog to look after and the dog is very beautiful and I am too excited to talk right now," one of the attendees said.

"This is the first time I have ever been at such an auction and it’s a great atmosphere here as all the military personnel look after the dogs very well and all the dogs are in good health and friendly," added another.

According to the army, all the dogs have been vaccinated against rabies and various diseases, treated for ticks and fleas, and neutered.

Participants were allowed to bid for up to two dogs, with the stipulation that the dogs cannot be used for commercial purposes.

The auction of military dogs is a regular event organised by the army to ensure that these loyal animals find caring homes after their service.
