Description

Members of the Armenian diaspora and the Armenian Apostolic Church in Tehran began their Christmas preparations at the Saint Sarkis Cathedral on Sunday.

The largest Christian community in Iran gathered in the forecourt of the building, decorating Christmas trees and hanging decorations in the interior of the cathedral.

“We must thank the Ministry of Health and the esteemed government, which were able to control this disease (COVID-19), by importing vaccines and vaccinating many compatriots,” explained Grigoris Nersessian, a priest at the Cathedral.

“And God willing, we will be able to perform our ceremonies with less problems this year, without the restrictions we had the last two years,” added Nersessian.

The Saint Sarkis Cathedral is part of the Armenian Apostolic Church and was first unveiled in 1970.
