Slovenian Prime Minister Robert Golob called on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to bring to an end Israel’s war in Gaza, during his speech to the UN General Assembly high-level debate on Friday.

“Mr Netanyahu, stop this war now," Golob said, pounding his fist on the lectern.

“I want to say this out loud and clear to the Israeli government - stop the bloodshed, stop the suffering, bring the hostages home and end the occupation," he continued.

Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif called out those who he claimed were ‘complicit in prolonging this cruel conflict’ and were ignoring the ‘endless suffering’ in Gaza.

“It is not enough to condemn…We must act now and demand an immediate end to this bloodshed,” Sharif said.

He added that he thought Israel had been ‘emboldened’ by a ‘failure to implement UN resolutions’ that has now threatened to ‘plunge the entire Middle East to war.’

Mohammad Yunus, chief adviser of the government of Bangladesh, told delegates that the situation in Gaza should "not only concern Arabs or the Muslims but entire humanity."

“All those responsible for crimes against humanity against the Palestinian people must be held accountable,” Yunus told delegates.

He also urged the international community and the UN ‘to ‘implement the two-state solution’ which he believes to be “the only way to establish lasting peace in the Middle East.”

On Friday, Israeli PM Benjamin Netayahu claimed his country 'wants peace' but warned 'we can strike anywhere', in a speech dominated by boos, cheers and mass walkout. Shortly afterwards, it was reported that Israel had conducted a huge strike on Beirut targeting Hezbollah's headquarters.

The Israel-Hamas war in Gaza recently expanded to include an escalation of hostilities between Israel and Lebanon. Israel insists that the ongoing military actions are needed for its own security.

The UNGA High-level General Debate continues in New York until September 30.
