Argentina fans reacted outside Groupama Stadium celebrating 2-1 win against Iraq at the 2024 Paris Olympics on Saturday, following a controversial loss to Morocco in the opening match.

Footage shows mixed reactions from football fans coming out of the stadium in national jerseys and carrying flags.

"We are very happy because we were expecting Argentina to win this game, otherwise it would be a big problem moving forward," said one of the fans.

The South American powerhouse, which began the Paris 2024 Olympics as strong contenders for the gold medal, found itself in a tight spot following a 2-1 defeat by Morocco.

"Yeah, I think it was really special, not in a good way. It's not something that normally we want to, we want the support to be. So unfortunately, there was a situation that came up," said another fan, commenting on Argentina's loss to Morocco.

The game against Morocco was halted for more than an hour until a VAR review confirmed that the goal was disallowed. Play then continued for a few more minutes, with Morocco holding on to their lead. The 2-1 loss has left Argentina with a slim chance of advancing.

Argentina's performance in men's Olympic football has varied. They won gold in Athens 2004 and Beijing 2008 but failed to qualify for London 2012. In both Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020, they dropped out before reaching the final.
