Tennis fans shared their views in Paris on Sunday as Serbian ace Novak Djokovic triumphed over Spain's Carlos Alcaraz in the highly-anticipated Olympics final.

In a nail-biting showdown, Djokovic emerged as the victor with 7:6 (7:3) and 7:6 (7:2) scores, securing his first Olympic gold medal.

"It's a really long journey for Novak because he really made it. He made history in Serbian sports because he won everything. It means a lot for Serbian people because we love him like he's our brother, and I watched the semifinals, and the atmosphere is really amazing," a Serbian fan said

"It was wonderful, like a real final match and we are disappointed because we love Carlos, but there are two players. Incredible, so it was magical," added Marie from France.

Although Alcaraz fell short at the final hurdle, many Spanish fans hailed his 'incredible' performance and hoped he would claim gold at the next Olympics in Los Angeles.

"He will be there again with a great chance to win. And well, we are very proud of him in Spain, he has shown an incredible tennis," one said.

With this historic win, Djokovic became only the fifth player to complete a career Golden Slam, adding yet another milestone to his illustrious career.

The 2024 Olympic Games will take place in Paris from July 26 to August 11, marking the third time the French capital has hosted the Summer Olympics, following the 1900 and 1924 games.
