Pope Francis closed the 2021 Easter celebrations with the traditional 'Regina Caeli' prayer and delivered a sermon from the Vatican City on Monday.

"In this Easter season, I wish everyone to have the same spiritual experience, welcoming in your hearts, houses, families, the good news of Easter. Christ is risen; He no longer dies. Death has no power over him anymore. The good news of Easter, Christ is alive. Christ accompanies my life. Christ stands by me," said Pope Francis.

Pope Francis, in particular, addressed the elderly and the sick, listening to him from retirement or nursing homes.

"I am sending a word of encouragement and of gratitude for their testimony. I am close to you," said the head of the Roman Catholic church.

Easter Monday is also traditionally known as 'Monday of the Angel' because, marking the appearance of Archangel Gabriel, who announced Jesus's resurrection to the women visiting the tomb.
