Dutch artists have recreated Vincent Van Gogh’s famous painting 'Vase with 15 Sunflowers' in a garden in Etten Leur, to showcase the importance of biodiversity.

Footage captured on Friday shows the artistic creation from above, as well as visitors taking pictures of the sunflowers and admiring the project from vantage points and close-up.

“The sunflower field is a big success. A lot of people are visiting it. It's free to visit. We had about 16,000 visitors until now, starting in the beginning of August. So people are looking at it, and they are amazed that it looks so much like the original painting by Van Gogh,” explained Pierre van Damme, the project curator.

He explained that at least 60,000 sunflowers, three different varieties, were used to create the project, first planted in the garden at the beginning of June.

“Heavy rainfall flushed away all the seeds. And so we had to do it all over again. That was at the beginning of July. And now we have this magnificent sunflower field painting in October. It's unbelievable. It's autumn, so it's magnificent to see this,” Van Damme added.

According to local media reports, the creation is 7,000 square meters.
