The Berlin state electoral commission has identified administrative irregularities at numerous polling stations during the 2021 Bundestag elections, as outlined by electoral commissioner Dr Petra Michaels during a press conference in the German capital on Monday.
"During the 2021 Bundestag elections in Berlin, some irregularities occurred in 94 polling stations," she said.
"Due to carelessness in the polling stations, there were cases of wrong issuances of ballots which took place. It is important to note that the parliamentary election for the Bundestag was not affected by the latter. There is no evidence of incorrect sorting or labelling of the Bundestag ballot," she stressed.
Michaels also outlined issues that occurred with the sending of pre-delivered ballots and incidents of ballot paper packets being delivered to the wrong recipient.
