Lebanese journalist and political analyst Fadi Boudia recalled the moment an alleged Israeli shell hit his home during a live television interview in Tamnin al-Tahta in the Beqaa Valley on Monday.

Footage filmed on Tuesday shows the damage in Boudia’s home with shattered windows, as well as destruction in the rooms.

“I was on a live interview with the TV channel and closed the Skype at the beginning of the second round of the coverage. I was also doing an interview with another TV channel when the Israeli warplanes were heavily and unprecedently flying over and bombing all surrounding areas. I was doing an interview when I heard the explosions and people screaming until what you see in the video happened,” he said.

Boudia confirmed he is in good health except for ‘back pain due to the shock and explosion’ and added that the ‘Bekaa region witnessed the fiercest Israeli strikes since October 8’, referring to strikes Israel has carried out on southern Lebanon since Monday.

“We are talking about the town I live in. Ten residential blocks were entirely destroyed. There are dozens of martyrs and wounded, and civilian residential buildings levelled to the ground. I am one of the affected. Locals of this town, some of them Syrian nationals, were severely bombed, and some women and children were martyred. Israeli criminality indiscriminately bombs civilian and military targets,” he claimed.

On Monday, the Israeli army said it had targeted with airstrikes Hezbollah positions, calling on civilians in villages in Southern Lebanon and Bekaa Valley to evacuate.

The Lebanese Ministry of Health announced that 558 people had been killed and 1,835 injured in Israeli strikes on southern Lebanon since Monday morning.

In turn, Hezbollah announced it had targeted IDF positions, including Megiddo military airport near Afula. Israeli media mentioned that Hezbollah has fired hundreds of rockets into northern Israel since Tuesday morning.

Tensions in Southern Lebanon have escalated over the past week following the mass explosions of pagers used by Hezbollah and the Israeli strike on the southern suburbs of Beirut, which killed the group’s senior commander Ibrahim Aqeel, along with 60 others. On Sunday morning, Hezbollah launched a rocket attack on areas near the northern Israeli city of Haifa.

The Israeli army has been exchanging cross-border shelling with Hezbollah, Lebanese and Palestinian factions since October 8, 2023, one day after the Israel-Hamas war broke out.
