The UEFA Champions League trophy was paraded in central Madrid on Thursday, as part of the opening ceremony of the UEFA Champions Festival, dedicated to celebrating Saturday's final between Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool FC.

Holding the trophy at the head of the march were First Deputy Mayor of Madrid Marta Higueras, former Real Madrid player Fernando Morientes and former Atletico Madrid player Roberto Solozabal, accompanied by a marching band and samba dancers.

The trophy was paraded from Plaza Mayor to Puerta de Sol, where the main stage of the festival is located.

The 2019 UEFA Champions League final is set to be played at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium in Madrid on Saturday, June 1. Kick-off is set at 20:00 GMT.

Liverpool has seen glory in the Champions League on five different occasions, whereas Tottenham will make their first appearance in the final of Europe’s most elite competition.
