Russian synchronised swimmers Svetlana Kolesnichenko and Svetlana Romashina became won gold at the women's duet competition at the Tokyo Olympics, on Wednesday.

The athletes shared their opinion on Games participation at a press conference after their victory.

Kolesnichenko spoke about the hard work that leads to becoming a champion at the Olympics. “It is hard work - hard hours, days, years of training," she said.

Kolesnichenko noted that winning the competition is the highest priority for athletes. "The most important thing for us is that what it’s on our neck now. And we work for this," the synchronised swimmer said.

Romashina said that she believes that if you work hard to conquer the Olympic Games, you will get the result eventually. “Nothing is impossible, and if you are really good, then you will be noticed and taken. And, let's just say, everyone has their own time," she said.

Romashina won her sixth Olympic gold medal in the discipline at the Tokyo Games, becoming the most decorated synchronised swimmer in the world. The athlete said that this would be her final Olympics.

The Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) team has already won 14 gold, 21 silver, and 18 bronze medals at the Games. The team stands at sixth place in the overall medal standings.
