Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke about the situation on the Belarus-Poland border in a video conference with the head of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, Francesco Rocca, in Moscow on Sunday.

The president stated that Poland's actions at the border should be 'watched' by the international community, in an 'appropriate and the most attentive way.'

"People should not be watered down with water and herbicides and pesticides added to the water in order to cause burns and other serious consequences for these migrants, including women and young children", said Putin.

Putin went on to allege how many migrants had died at the border, stating, "They bury them there almost every day."

A migrant crisis escalated in November after thousands of migrants set up tent camps on the Belarus-Poland border and attempted to cross the frontier.
