Description

Hundreds of displaced individuals crossed the Jousieh border from Lebanon into Syria on Sunday, as reported Israeli bombardment of Beirut continued. Footage captured people arriving at the border, carrying their belongings, with some resting on the ground. Teams from the Syrian Arab Red Crescent, along with medical personnel, were seen providing assistance and supplies to those in need.

One displaced local, Ali Amhaz, shared his harrowing experience: "I have four children and my wife. We got stuck in the area. The strike was very close, about 50 to 100 meters away. I took my children, grabbed them as they were in their clothes, brought some clothes with me, and we walked down the road until we reached the El-Qaa area on the Lebanese border. We spent two nights there in the church, and last night an evacuation order came..."

Another displaced woman described the events that forced them to flee, stating, "We were bombed and had to flee our homes. Our house is rubble now, levelled to the ground by the shelling. I haven't slept for five days. We left with nothing."

Lebanon's caretaker Prime Minister, Najib Mikati, reported that the number of displaced individuals from southern Lebanon and the Bekaa region had surged to around one million, marking it as "the largest displacement ever in Lebanon and the region."

He mentioned that 778 makeshift accommodations have been prepared for 118,000 people, emphasizing the government's ongoing efforts to provide shelter, food, and healthcare to prevent disease outbreaks.

In response to the influx, Syrian authorities issued a directive to provide free medical and emergency services in hospitals across various regions for all new arrivals from Lebanon.

The IDF, as part of 'Operation Northern Arrows,' has conducted airstrikes targeting Hezbollah locations, resulting in significant casualties. Reports indicate more than 1,030 deaths and over 6,300 injuries, with specific targets including the central headquarters of Hezbollah in Beirut's southern suburbs, where several high-ranking members were killed.

Tensions have escalated in southern Lebanon, particularly following the Israeli bombardment and subsequent exchanges of fire with Hezbollah and Palestinian factions since the outbreak of conflict in Gaza on October 8.
