"I think the country was ready for a change. They've been in power for 12 years, so he got out there and connected. I think he (Trump) connected with the everyday man and woman working hard and trying to make it better," shared Ray Greenstreet, a local.
Another local, Abdi, noted that 'wars are a genocide', referring to the conflicts in Ukraine and Israel.
"Ukraine and Russia, Russia is a big country, Russia is a nuclear country, and also, NATO is expanding, NATO, they trying to push the war, and I wish Trump would stop the war," he concluded.
According to Xavier, who used to vote for the Democrats and gotten disappointed, he decided to choose Trump this time.
"I was a progressive for Bernie Sanders, and I helped Joe Biden get into office, but we were betrayed because we had a lot of empty promises regarding cannabis, rescheduling, declassification, decriminalisation nationwide, and everything, and he didn't pull. So they pulled all of us from Bernie camp, progressives, and then they betrayed us. So right now, we find refuge. We found our refuge in America First," he shared.
Another Trump supporter explained his choice by saying the U.S. needs renewal, including in politics. "I think he wants to burn it all down and get rid of the long-term politicians who have messed things up, so, anything would be better than more of the same," he said.
Trump secured a landslide victory over his Democrat rival Kamala Harris, winning crucial swing states to take him to well over the necessary 270 electoral votes - and also coming first in the popular vote.
