Description

Afghan security forces have been deployed in Jalalabad city on Tuesday, following Taliban attacks during Eid al-Adha celebrations across Afghanistan.

"We have come out to provide good security of the city, as you know recently Taliban have increased their attacks on most of district and provinces, but they won't be able to do anything, a big numbers of security forces are deployed to defend or protect the districts and city, until our people can celebrate the Eid in peaceful," said Hameedullah Khan, a member of the Afghan National Army.

The security forces were joined by police officers, patrolling streets as they searched vehicles.

Eid al-Adha falls at a particularly precarious time for the country, as US and other NATO troops withdraw after 20 years.

The Biden administration confirmed that all US military forces will have left the country by August 31.
