Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei spoke to the family of Qassem Soleimani ahead of the second anniversary of his death in Tehran on Saturday.
Khamenei and the widow of the late commander of the Quds Force were seen crying before the leader spoke to criticise the US.
Khamenei condemned the January 2020 airstrike, authorised by former President Donald Trump, that killed Soleimani. “Martyr Soleimani is immortal, he is alive forever. Those who martyred him, Trump, and others like him, will be in the dustbin of history,” the leader stated
Khamenei continued, “but he is alive forever, alive forever. The martyr is like this. And his enemies will be lost and buried, of course, after they are retaliated while they are alive, God willing, they will be lost and buried.”
Following the attack on Soleimani, Iran struck the Ain al-Asad base, which at the time was housing US troops, leading to dozens of brain injuries in the US military.
