German stuffed teddy bear manufacturer Hermann is making 500 commemorative stuffed teddy bears in honor of Chancellor Angela Merkel's departure from office after 16 years, as seen in Coburg on Thursday.
The 'Merkel' bear wears a red jacket, black pants, the 'Schlandkette,' also known as 'Germany necklace,' and has its hands tented in the famous Merkel hand pose.
"16 years after she had ended her term of office, it was only natural to make a lovely, small, cuddly teddy bear for Angelika Merkel," said Martin Hermann, owner of the company.
Hermann created its first 'Merkel' themed teddy bear when the Chancellor was first inaugurated in office.
Sixteen years later, the 500 commemorative 'Merkel' bears already went sold out.
