Vladimir Putin proposed to instruct the Ministries of Health of the G20 countries to resolve the issue of mutual recognition of national vaccine certificates. The President of Russia made the comments during a speech to the G20 summit that he attended via videocall.
The Russian leader also called on the World Health Organisation to speed up the process of prequalification of new vaccines and drugs.
"There is an acute issue of the World Health Organisation speeding up the process of prequalification of new vaccines and drugs, in other words, assessing their quality, safety, and effectiveness. I am sure the sooner all this is done, the easier it will be to resume global business, including the worst-hit tourism activity," stated pUTIN.
Continuing on the topic of vaccination, Putin reminded foreign partners of the existence and use in Russia of a single-component drug Sputnik Light.
"In addition to the two-component vaccine Sputnik V, a single-component drug Sputnik Light has been created and is actively being used in Russia, which can be used, among other things, to increase the effectiveness of other vaccines," explained Putin.
During his speech, Putin also touched upon issues of the world economy.
"I would like to note that 40 percent of the budget deficit of all G20 countries for 2020-2021 will fall on the United States. I am talking about this because we all understand perfectly well that the entire world economy depends on the state of this economy," concluded Putin.
