Taipei residents welcomed a phone app showing the locations of air raid shelters across the city on Monday, as tensions remained high with China following the visit of US Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
"I think this app benefits national security, which should be promoted to the public. Everyone should install it in case of an emergency," said one citizen, Mr Choi.
However, others appeared aware of it but were a little less enthusiastic.
"I was not aware of the location of bomb shelters. However, I saw people discussing this app on the website during Pelosi’s trip to Taiwan. That’s how I learned about this app, but I have never installed it," said another resident, Miss Chang.
China carried out military drills around the island following Pelosi’s trip, having warned of serious consequences if it went ahead. Washington said the actions were 'provocative', although Beijing said any tensions were entirely 'provoked and created' by the US.
